Judy Cary’s first big real estate client was herself. She had always admired the house next to her childhood home in Alexandria, Va., so she bought it — and there raised her own family. Every day, she commuted to the District, where she managed a $35 million budget for the Comptroller of the Currency at the Treasury Department.
But ultimately, real estate proved to be her true calling. When a local real estate law firm needed a senior manager, she jumped at the opportunity — putting her business management degree from George Mason University to good use while absorbing the devilish details of the real estate code.
She learned her trade well. She next landed a job as Director of Relocation at Exclusive Interim Properties in McLean, helping Secret Service, State Department, and FAA employees find homes in the D.C. metropolitan region. This led to similar work with several Fortune 500 companies; and soon even Hollywood came calling, seeking luxury housing for stars and crew for on-location shoots.
Judy handled it all with the same steady assurance she brings to Shepherd Homes Group Fine Homes and Estates.
With now over 33 years of hard-won experience — and more than $42 million in sales — her contributions to the industry have been duly celebrated; among her awards: the NVAR Top Producer Award for $10 Million in Sales; the RE/MAX 100 Award, and membership in the RE/MAX President’s Club.
As Judy puts it, “My mission is to be your ‘real estate agent for life’ — I want to teach you what I’ve learned from experience, educating you throughout the process of buying a home. With my guidance, we’ll arrive at the best financial decision for you and your family. That’s my promise.”
Following in her mother’s footsteps, daughter Rachel graduated with a Business MBA from University of Mary Washington. She works as a consultant for non-profits at RSM International Accounting firm in Washington, D.C. Her son, Juan Carlos, works at the Pentagon as an IT consultant for the Air Force.
